Obituary

Our beloved Jerry Lynn Hobson went home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2024 at the age of 74.

Jerry was born July 6, 1949 to Claude and Wilma Hobson. He graduated from Will Rogers High School in 1967. In 1968 he met the love of his life Nancy Wann at a high school basketball game. Two years later they were married at Sequoyah Hills Baptist Church. During their 53 years together they had 2 boys. Michael Hobson of Broken Arrow and John Hobson of Tulsa.Together they were members of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church for over 45 years. When their boys were younger Jerry was passionate about getting to coach the boys in their sports. Jerry and Nancy gained 2 daughters when Michael married Jennifer in 1997 and John married Laura in 2004.

Jerry retired from Pepsi after 31 years in 2004. He then worked for Broken Arrow public schools as a bus driver for the next 10 years before he retired from there in 2014.

Jerry loved sports. Football and baseball being the ones he watched most. His favorite teams were TU, OU, the Cardinals and The Dallas Cowboys. Many times he would take his family to TU games having had season tickets for 30 plus years. He had spent special moments with his boys at bowl games and Cardinals games. They all 3 enjoyed going to sporting events together. On their family trips he would always take them to baseball park stadiums.

Traveling was another thing he loved to do, getting to see new places. Taking his family and seeing them enjoy themselves was important to him. Some of the places him and Nancy traveled to were Niagara Falls, New Mexico to ride in the hot air balloons, an Alaskan Cruise and New York. They also loved taking day road trips all around Oklahoma. Later after the grandkids were born he would take trips with all 10 of us. We went to Dry gulch to the Christmas Train, a Disney Cruise, Navarre Beach in Florida and Dauphin Island in Alabama.

Jerry and Nancy were blessed with 4 grandkids. Jacob, Tyler, Kylee and Jackson.
These four kids became their whole world. They supported their grandkids in every activity or achievement they had. Everything from soccer, baseball and football when they were young. Later attending piano recitals for Tyler, cheerleading and volleyball for Kylee, their only granddaughter. To basketball school performances and band with Jack. And even traveling to Indianapolis to see Jacob, their oldest grandson, perform with the Broken Arrow Pride in competition. If the grandkids needed anything he was always there.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers and 1 sister.

Spending time with his family was most important to him. He had the pool open every Sunday for a swim and dinner. Dinner was usually him grilling burgers and hotdogs.

I don't know if he ever knew how important and special he was to us. But, I hope so.
