Jerry Lee Nowlin was born May 31, 1944 in Picher, OK and passed suddenly into the arms of his Savior May 16, 2024.
Jerry gave his life to Jesus Christ in his teens and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Picher, OK, being actively involved in vacation Bible school for several years helping with youth projects.
Jerry graduated Picher High School in 1962 and took several courses in T&I auto mechanics and went to work at the Miami News Record. He met the love of his life, Brenda George from Afton. They were married November 6, 1966 at the First Baptist Church in Afton. Jerry and Brenda began their married life moving to Fort Wayne, IN but later returned to Oklahoma and made their home in Tulsa.
Jerry had a keen mind for finance and with further education began his career in the banking industry which eventually led him to pursue his own aviation company. His hard work ethic allowed him to achieve success in this industry while blessing many people with jobs and even without a job opening would find something for them to do to help them out.
Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish. He was especially proud of his bird dogs and his big Lab, Ammo. He enjoyed spending time on the lake and ponds fishing with his handmade lures.
Jerry had a heart as big as all outdoors with a compassionate nature and giving spirit. Many times, you could find him outside with the neighborhood kids making them a small fishing rod and teaching them to cast. The doorbell would ring, and it would be these kids looking for Jerry to come out and cast their little rods he had made them. He had a witty sense of humor and never met a stranger and loved talking to anyone and always wanted to learn something about everyone he encountered.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Brenda; his sister, Judy Pace of Carthage, MO; two brothers-in-law, Gary George and wife, Ruth Ann, of Afton; Chuck George of Vinita and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Virginia Nowlin; brother, Jimmy Nowlin; father and mother-in-law, H.O. and Ozelle George; his nephew, Michael Pace and his son, Brittan Lee Nowlin.
Jerry's memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends and all those who had the opportunity to know him.
