Dr. Jesse Ray Harris was born on April 26, 1937, to Jared and Safronia "Meyer"
Harris, and spent his early years in his hometown of Ritzville, Washington. After
graduating from high school, Jesse attended the University of Washington, receiving Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Engineering. He continued his studies at Alfred University in Alfred, New York, where he earned a PhD in Ceramic Engineering. While pursuing his education, he was also proudly enlisted in the United States Army Reserve.
Jesse began his professional career as a petroleum engineer with Phillips 66 in
Bartlesville, Oklahoma, in 1967, where he worked in research and development
before retiring in 1999.
Jesse passed away on January 14, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is survived by
two daughters, Katie (Harris) Gabel and Jane (Harris) Rice, and their spouses, four grandchildren, and a former spouse, Julia. He will be remembered for his love of baseball, his impressive stamp collection, his understated sense of humor, and his quiet generosity toward others.
