Obituary

Jessica Erin Brent, known as Jess, Jessie or simply "B" to many, sadly passed away on November 15, 2024 at the age of 42.
Born on November 21, 1981 in Oklahoma City, Jessica grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma and was a proud citizen of the Choctaw Nation. She earned her B.A. in Philosophy from the University of Central Oklahoma, and a master's degree in Architectural Urban Studies from the University of Oklahoma. She recently earned a Master of Fine Arts in Creative Nonfiction from the Institute for American Indian Arts.
Jessica was a woman of many talents and interests. She built a remarkable career marked by her entrepreneurial spirit. She owned her own successful business, was a freelance writer, an events coordinator, and an educator at Tulsa Community College. Beyond her professional life, Jessica loved being a mom to her five children. She was a devoted mother and committed her time and energy to her children and their activities.
Jessica is survived by her wife, DeAnna Cooper, and their five children: Alissa, Jay, Anthony, Dakota (Dorian), and Ryan; her parents Ken and Brenda Brent of Edmond; brother Luke of Edmond; parents-in-law Velma and Darrell Mayfield and Robert Cooper of Tulsa; sister and brother-in-law, Rusty and Bobbie Mills of Tulsa, Mitch Gerads and Lauren Mayfield of Phoenix, Ken and Julie Mayfield of Los Angeles and nephews Luke, West and Cooper. She will also be greatly missed by her many friends and her loyal dog, Maddie.

There will be a celebration of Jessica's life Thursday, November 21st at the family home from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Jessica's life by being present for your family and friends. Check out some library books and read something, but please no poetry. Go on a hike and take in all the colors of nature. Appreciate the songs of the birds, and try your hand as an amateur bird watcher. Bake some good cookies and share them with your friends. Put on your best outfit and find a honky-tonk where you and your friends can try your hand at the Texas two-step. Crack open a Coors Original or pour a nice glass of wine. Squeeze in an extra chair at the dinner table. Definitely host a very inclusive porch party, welcoming all of your friends, neighbors, and family. And, if possible, take time this holiday season and go see The Nutcracker. We love you B.
