Jessie Alfred "JA" Haynes, 94, of Preston, Oklahoma, passed away on September 7, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Funeral services will be held at Moore Funeral Home - Southlawn Chapel on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend David Archer officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation at Moore Funeral Home on Sunday, September 14, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home - Southlawn Chapel. Burial will be at Okmulgee Cemetery in Okmulgee, Oklahoma.

Jessie was born on April 15, 1932, in Pocahontas, Arkansas, to Pete Jessie Haynes and Geneva Pierce Haynes. He was the second of four children and their only son. He graduated from Glenpool High School in Oklahoma, where he served as class president.

Following high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and served during the Korean War from 1952 to 1956. Assigned to the Marines for two years, he worked as a Medic and was stationed in Japan with the 3rd Marine Division for 14 months. He received an honorable discharge with the rank of Hospital Corpsman Third Class (Petty Officer Third Class).

On June 21, 1957, Jessie married the love of his life, Ruby Maxine Rhyne Haynes. They shared 68 years of marriage and raised two sons, Dickie Dewayne Haynes and Aaron Jay Haynes.

After his Navy service, Jessie worked for 31 years as a mail carrier at the Tulsa Post Office. He often joked that the people on his route said they could "set their watches by him" because he was so punctual.

One of Jessie's greatest joys and accomplishments was serving the Lord as a Freewill Baptist preacher for more than 30 years. He also loved life on his farm in Preston, where he raised cattle and, earlier in life, kept horses with his father.

Jessie was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Maxine Haynes; his son, Dickie Dewayne Haynes; his parents, Pete and Geneva Haynes; and his two sisters, Gloria Holmes and Ada Bonnieve Cox.

He is survived by his son, Aaron Jay Haynes of Preston, Oklahoma; his daughter-in-law, Madalyn Moss, and her husband, David Moss, of Bixby, Oklahoma; his grandchildren, Misty Green and her husband Ryan, Heather Hill, Brittany Blaire and her husband Jason, Tim Haynes, Allison Story, Jared Jessie Haynes, and Mycah Haynes; and his great-grandchildren, Riley, Hanna, Rachel, Jacob, Hailey, Paige, Jaxson, and Natalie.
