James William "Jim" Hovis, 62, died Friday, May 15, 2015, After being diagnosed with an inoperative brain tumor. Jim was a long time resident of Arlington, TX. He grew up in Arlington, graduated college at University of Texas at Arlington. He met Jill (Higgins), his beloved wife of 32 years. Together they raised two sons: Paul & Scott. Jim's parents, Dwight & Jean Hovis had numerous businesses in Arlington. In 2013, Jim retired and relocated to Tulsa, OK with his wife, Jill. Jim and his family attended Trinity United Methodist Church of Arlington. Jim was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity. Jim was a World Ranked water skier, loved playing tennis and the drums.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jill, son: Dr. James "Paul" Hovis, Baltimore, MD, son: James "Scott" Hovis, Austin TX, Father: James "Dwight" Hovis, Weatherford, TX, sister: Ann Sonnier, her husband, Kent, Weatherford, TX, nephew, Jeff Jones, his wife Amy & nephew, Jon Jones, both of Weatherford, TX, cousins: Jo Beth Vines of Mansfield, TX, Dana Silcox, London, England, Becky Morrison, Branson, MO. Preceded in death by His mother: Norma Jean Hovis.

Jim's favorite travel destinations were anywhere near water. Family vacations were always a beach location: California, Florida, Texas Coast, Hawaiian Island, Bermuda & the Caribbean: All were his favorite.

A memorial service in Jim's honor will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015, Trinity United Methodist Church, 1200 West Green Oaks Boulevard, Arlington, TX.
