Jimmy David Lee passed peacefully on April 6, 2024 surrounded by loved family members. He is preceded in death by his father, David Lee, mother, Mary Lee and sister, Mary Jane Funk. He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 66 years Doris, daughter Cindy Tipton (Steve) and son David Lee (Alisa). He is survived by 6 grandchildren, Andrew Tipton (Alli), Allison Belanger (Matt), Addie Tipton, Katy Davis (Issac), Jacob Lee and Lindsey Lee. He is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, Sophie and Evelyn Belanger, and Micah Davis.
As a young man he went to Oklahoma State University before being drafted into the Army. After the Army, he came back to Tulsa where he worked at Mohawk Golf Course, the Tulsa World and Sears. Sears led to a career in retail management for the next 46 years. In particular he loved his years managing the Otasco store in Sand Springs until the company was forced to close.
He was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman in his younger years, willing coach to David's youth baseball and wrestling teams, master vegetable gardener, enjoyed traveling, and incredibly devoted fan of his grandchildren's sporting events. He was a member of Memorial Drive United Methodist Church serving on the board for a number of years.
Jim was a blessing to all who knew him, often being called the nicest man they ever knew. He was the rare person that was content to let others take center stage and he quietly did everything to support them. He always had a welcoming smile for all. He never said a crossword to his wife or family. A hard worker throughout life, he never skirted a duty.
Even during his prolonged illness, he continued to smile and managed to give Doris a nightly hug and a kiss. He will be so missed here on earth. Heaven gained a new angel.
