Obituary

Lifelong Tulsa resident, Virginia (Jinny) Wynn, passed away on December 24, 2024 at the age of 94 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Jinny was born at home on March 17, 1930, to her parents, Henry and Louise Siegfried, who were Volga German immigrants from Russia. She was named Virginia Ruth Siegfried, but emphatically preferred to be called "Jinny with a J", a nickname bestowed on her by her husband of 67 years, Jack Wynn, who preceded her in death in 2019.

Jinny grew up in West Tulsa and graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1948. She held several secretarial positions until becoming a full-time homemaker in 1954 when her first daughter, Kelly, was born. Daughters Kendall and Kristen followed within a few years and kept Jinny very busy with their school and church activities.

Jack and Jinny Wynn were founding members of Christ the Redeemer Lutheran Church who eventually found their way to Boston Avenue Methodist Church in the 1990's. They were very active in the Wesley Fellowship Sunday School Class and enjoyed class social activities with their numerous friends. Jinny was also a long-time member of the German American Society of Tulsa and volunteered many years at Mayfest and Oktoberfest with her GAST friends. She was also a top-notch bridge player, was an accomplished seamstress, and had an enviable green thumb.

Jinny worked for many years at National Reporter Publications in Bixby. In retirement, she and Jack played golf, competed in Senior Olympics, snow skied in Colorado and Europe. They traveled extensively through the United States and Europe and once went to Australia with only a car reservation, choosing to experience things with unscheduled freedom and an open mind.

Jinny is reunited in Heaven with her loved ones, including her husband, Jack Wynn, her parents Henry and Louise Siegfried and brothers Edward and Burnett Siegfried. She is survived by her daughters Kelly Wynn Hall (Joe), Kendall Wynn Carpenter (David) and Kristen Wynn Lowry (Rick), five grandchildren Kyle Lowry Maloney (Jeremiah), Kara Lowry Castorena (Sal), Valerie Carpenter Grogan (Michael), Grant Carpenter (Chelsea) and Douglas Hall, as well as two great grandchildren, Lola and Crew Carpenter.
