Joann Newman (Terrell), 89, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, February 7, 2024 following a brief illness. Joann was born in Vinita, OK to Emmett Dalton and Lucille Clara Terrell on May 30, 1934.

After graduation from Central High School Joann met and fell in love with John Olen Newman. They were married on March 9, 1955. John and Joann enjoyed many successful years as owners of State Beauty Supply in both Springfield, MO and Tulsa, OK. Along with Joann's love for her family and travel, she was an avid shopper and reader, and enjoyed cooking for her family. Joann exemplified a Godly life and stressed this importance with her family. Her cultural heritage as a member of the Cherokee Nation was also very important to her, and she shared that love with her children and grandchildren.

Joann was preceded in death by her loving husband, John. She leaves behind, until they meet again, her three children, Sherry Snider and her husband Dan (of Tulsa), Gregg Newman (of Oologah), and Nick Newman and his wife, Debbie (of Springfield); her seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Snider) Owens and husband Matt (of Tulsa), Kevin Snider and wife Kenda (of Tulsa), Cole Newman, and Brian Newman and wife Alexandria (of Tulsa), and Zach, Alex, and Stephanie Newman (of Springfield); all her beloved great-grandchildren; her sister Emma Lou Capps and her family; her church family at John Knox Presbyterian Church; and many dear friends.

Joann was a loving and devoted wife, mother, Nana, and friend. Her family and friends will miss her cooking, sense of humor, stories, shopping trips, and family vacations.

Visitation will be 6-8:00pm, Friday, February 16, 2024, at Moore's Southlawn. A small service will be 10:00am, Saturday, February 17, 2024, at John Knox Presbyterian Church, 2929 E. 31st.
