JOANNE HESS



Joanne Lenore (Meillier) Hess passed away May 29th, 2019, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 91. Joanne was born in Faribault, Minnesota on November 29th, 1927, to Archie and Elizabeth Gravelin. She was raised on farms in and around Faribault.


After her marriage in 1948 to Edward Meillier, they moved to St. Paul, Minnesota where they had 2 daughters. They moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1968, after being transferred first to Des Moines, Iowa, Prairie Village, Kansas, and Houston, Texas with Ed's employer. She then began working at Warren Petroleum as a Records Control Clerk until her retirement in 1992.



Following Ed's death in 1980, she married retired art professor, Stan Hess in 1992. They enjoyed almost 27 years together-going to art shows and museums, the ballet, playing bridge, and spending time with family.



She was preceded in death by husbands Ed Meillier and Stan Hess. She is survived by daughters Lynn Hall (David) and Kris Shipman (Dale), both of Tulsa; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren in the Tulsa area. Joanne is also survived by her sister Marian Cloutier, Roseville, Minnesota; many nieces and nephews; and stepchildren Patricia Hess, Warner Robins, Georgia; Catherine Hess, Bloomington, Indiana; Rebecca Herman (Jack), Davenport, California; Mary Nash (Bob), Omaha, Nebraska; and Mike Hess, Dunedin, Florida.



Joanne was an exceptionally loving and devoted mother and wife. She will be truly missed.



In lieu of flowers, donation to Catholic Charities, Tulsa, Oklahoma can be made.



Memorial Mass is scheduled for Thursday, June 6th at 10:30 a.m. at Church of the Resurrection 4804 S Fulton Ave, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
