Joe Durl Lewis, the youngest of six children born to Joe Alford and Myrtle James Lewis
on November 16, 1927 in Van Buren, AR.
He married his sweetheart, Pauline Hunter on April 11, 1952 and was married until
her death in 2005. They had one child, Paula Jo.
'Dumpy", as he was known to friends and family, worked as a machinist at
Johnsons Manufacturing Company; he owned the Pemco Service Station at
Tecumseh and Lewis and then managed service stations for Hudson Oil Company.
He loved "peddling" fruit, growing tomatoes and fixing lawnmowers. He played poker,
hustled pool, and bet on strokes at golf to subsidize his family's income.
As with his beloved Pauline, he adored his two granddaughters, Erin Colleen and
Kathleen Marie as well as great-grandchildren, Travis Harper, Joshua Lee, Hannah Pauline,
Morgan Elizabeth, and twins, Abigail Leigh and Joseph Daniel.
He was a loving brother and "unc" to numerous nieces and nephews as well as
great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation 4-7 P.M., Thursday, September 4, 2014 at Moore's Southlawn.
Service will be 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 5, 2014 at Rose Hill Cemetery Chapel,
Admiral and Yale, Tulsa.
