Joel Dan Shepherd, 71, of Broken Arrow, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014 at St. John's Hospital in Tulsa. He was born December 31, 1942 to Ray and Ruby Shepherd in Dyess, Arkansas. He was a 1961 graduate of Webster High School and attended Oklahoma State University and Tulsa University. He was a member of the Oklahoma National Guard where he served six years. He worked over 40 years in the steel and utility industry where he was involved in sales and also owned several companies including Integrated Utility Products.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jimmy. He is survived by wife of 47 years, Billie, and daughters Jill Holloway of Olathe, KS and Joanna Knox of Broken Arrow, 4 grandchildren, Jack Shepherd, Lauren, Garrett and Brooke Holloway, son-in-laws Richard Holloway and Eric Knox, brother Gerald Shepherd and sister Anna Jean West.
Family visitation will be Wednesday, .February 26 5-7 p.m. at Moore's Southlawn, and a celebration of Joel 's life will be Thursday, February 27, 1 p.m. at Highland Park Christian Church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society at http://www.cancer.org/
