John Epps Beckwith passed away peacefully January 21, 2024 from complications following a stroke. His remarkable life journey began in McPherson, KS when he was born to Clifford and Wilma Epps Beckwith on June 20, 1939. He grew to become the quintessential all-American boy with natural athleticism and quick wit.
Several years after graduating from McPherson College, John combined his love of fishing and the great outdoors with his entrepreneurial spirit to found Falcon Rods in 1990. Falcon Rods sponsored many professional fishermen through the years and introduced several innovations to the fishing tackle industry. John's many trips to Brazil in search of Peacock Bass was one of his great joys, along with celebrating the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon, son Christopher Beckwith, daughter-in-law Jane and grandchildren Phoebe and Jillian; son Kevin and grandchildren Jordyn and Audrey; and sister Jane and brother-in-law Lyman.
