John Francis Rodgers, 65, retired tool designer for Braden Industries in Broken Arrow, OK, died of emphysema, Tuesday, January 1, 1974, at St. Francis Hospital, Tulsa, OK. He was born on Thursday, April 23, 1908, in St. Louis, MO, to William Chester Rodgers and Grace Marie (Brown) Rodgers. Mr. Rodgers was a resident of Tulsa, OK. He came to Tulsa from Champaign, IL, 30 years ago. He was a member of The First Christian Church and Tulsa Engineers Society.
Mr. Rodgers had been ill about five years and had designed a cart on which he carried tanks of oxygen, which he used nearly constantly. He had written a pamphlet, "Oxygen in the Home," which was published in 1973, for distribution among lung patients.
Mr. Rodgers retired in 1967, after 15 years, with Braden. He previously was employed by Pan-American Petroleum Corp.
Mr. Rodgers was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Lois Margaret (Tubb) Rodgers of the home; sister, Mrs. Noble "P. P." Manion, Jr. of Tulsa, OK; and a lifetime of friends.
Service 10 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 1974, Moore's Eastlawn Chapel, 1908 S. Memorial Dr., Tulsa, OK, with Rev. Eric Holland, First Christian Church, officiating.
Interment at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Tulsa, OK.
