John H. Maxwell Jr. ("Jack") peacefully entered his heavenly home on Monday, December 22, 2025 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 82, welcomed by his Lord and Savior.
Jack was born in Louisville, Kentucky on May 28,1943, the eldest of three boys. In his youth, he loved hunting, water skiing, and spending time with his brothers. He graduated as Salutatorian from Ferriday High School in Louisiana in 1961 and later attended Louisiana Tech University, earning his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. While attending Louisiana Tech, Jack ran Cross Country and also enjoyed being a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. His fondest college memory was meeting the love of his life, Sue Doiron, on the dance floor. These two later went on to win a dance competition to the song "Twist and Shout" by The Beatles.
Jack and Sue married on August 29, 1964, in Shreveport, Louisiana and shared 61 long, wonderful years together. Jack began his engineering career at Exxon in Baytown, Texas. After seven years, Exxon transferred him to Billings, Montana, where they lived there for one year, three months and twenty-six days. In 1972, Jack and Sue moved to Tulsa and purchased a Dunhill Personnel franchise. Their entrepreneurial spirit flourished and in 1989, they opened their businesses: Maxwell Staffing, Maxwell Temps, Maxwell Career Learning Center and Maxwell Healthcare.
Over the years, Jack and Sue were blessed with three children- Jeffrey, Stacey, and Stephen. Jack devoted most of his spare time to his family, coaching soccer for Jeff and Stacey, attending every sporting and school event for his children, and being Stephen's biggest advocate, ensuring he had all the skills, tools, and support to succeed. Jack and his family became members of Saint Dunstan's Episcopal Church, where Jack served years on many church committees.
Jack's commitment to service extended beyond his family and church. A dedicated Rotarian, he was a longtime member of the Rotary Club of Tulsa, began the Rotary Club of Bixby, and founded the Bixby BBQ'n and Blues Festival. He also established Medical Supply Network Inc. (MSNI), an organization that collected and distributed medical supplies to third world countries. Jack approached every endeavor with a servant's heart, believing that with God's help, anything was possible. Whatever Jack was involved in, he embraced it fully, and obediently followed the Lord's call for his life. His tireless efforts earned him numerous awards, including Rotary International's prestigious Service Above Self Award in June 1997.
Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Sue Maxwell; son Jeff Maxwell and wife Lesley; daughter Stacey Maxwell Berry and husband Will; and son Stephen H. Maxwell. He was a proud grandfather to five precious grandchildren: Kaylee Cabbiness, Hannah Mazur, Brooklyn Berry, James Maxwell, Mason Maxwell, and great-grandfather to Chapel Cabbiness. Jack also leaves behind brothers Barry Maxwell (wife Anne) and Steve Maxwell (wife Teresa), along with many extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John H. Maxwell and Claire Mitchell Maxwell; his Aunt Buddy Garrett; and mother-in-law, Tavie Doiron.
Jack will be missed but never forgotten. His legacy of faith, family, and service lives on in all who knew him.
Jack's celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Saint Dunstan's Episcopal Church, located at 5635 E. 71st Street, Tulsa OK 74136. The service will begin at 1:00P.M., followed by a reception in Daniels Hall.
In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family requests that donations be made to Medical Supply Network Inc. (MSNI) in Jack's honor. Please note "Jack Maxwell" in the memo line so the family can personally thank you for your generosity.
