Obituary

On a sunny day, Monday July 27, 2020, John William Harnish mounted his beloved horse "Trakstar" and began his ride to his heavenly home.

John was a man of many interests. Those who really knew and loved John often thought that his soul was akin to those who lived in a bygone era. Born into humble beginnings out west, he was a cowboy at heart and loved to ride and care for his horses. John rode like a free and happy spirit who dreamed dreams, made plans in his head, and thrived in the modern world.

He loved his Patsy June, and they were married on April 24, 1965. Three children were born to them, Shawn Sterling, Pennie Leah, and Patrick Ian.
His life included: serving in the Air National Guard; receiving a Bachelor of Science in Education degree for marine biology from the University of Tulsa; graduate studies in molecular biology at the University of Oklahoma; working at Pearl Harbor as a radiation analyst for nuclear powered submarines; the formation of Architectural Interiors of Oklahoma, Inc.; the development of Saddleback Estates; and searching for the architectural treasures of the earth.

As life went on, the family grew into seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Walter and Georgia Harnish; parents in-law Coy Lovell, and Grover and Geneva Roberts; and brother-in-law David Rogers.

He is survived by his beloved wife Patsy of 55 years; both of his siblings: sister Connie Rogers and brother Jerry (Lindsay) Harnish; three children: Shawn (Amy) Harnish, Pennie (Charley) Ontiveros, and Patrick (Diana) Harnish; seven grandchildren: Madison (James) Margason, Douglas Harnish, Maileah Ontiveros, Donald, Chesley, Linda, and Jack Harnish; one great-granddaughter Ainsleigh Harnish; former stepmother-in-law MaryAnne Lovell; numerous nieces and nephews; and many, many friends.

We say our earthly farewell to John and God bless you, and

Ride In Peace, Cowboy!
