John Lorence Heiny, born October 6, 1945 in Goodland, Kansas, to Frantz Lloyd Heiny and Dorothy Louise (Dye) Heiny, passed away on July 26, 2016 in Houston, Texas. John was preceded in death by his mother, father, and sister Rosemary (Heiny) Pascale. He was a beloved father and grandfather to daughter Angela Heiny, daughter and son-in-law Laura and Chris Hyde, son Phillip Heiny, granddaughters Alisha DeVore and Sadie Hyde, and grandson Hunter DeVore. He also leaves behind his brother and sister-in-law Richard and Sue Heiny and many nieces and nephews.
John was an accountant by trade, but in the last couple decades found a passion for sailing. He loved spending time on his sail boat "Seabreeze" and hosting outings for family and friends on Kemah Bay. Most of us have enjoyed at least one, if not several sunsets on John's boat with him in the captain's chair. He also loved to travel and we spent many vacations together in St. John, USVI and Estes Park, CO. John loved a good sing-a-long with his ukulele and was a supporter and avid attender of the Houston Symphony, Houston Museum of Fine Arts, and the Houston Zoo. John loved the "good life" and we loved him for sharing it with us. He took immense joy in spending time with his children, grandchildren, family, and friends--and we will all miss him dearly.
A memorial service in celebration of John's life will be held at Moore Funeral Home (2570 S. Harvard Ave., Tulsa, OK 74114) on Monday, August 1, 2016, at 10:30 am.

to any classroom you choose. We think John would have particularly liked Mrs. Febinger, a fun-loving music teacher, who is seeking donations for 10 ukuleles (1977517).
