John Henry Middleton IV, 88, was born March 17, 1926, to John Henry and Frieda Olive (Gill) Middleton in Kansas City, Missouri. He passed away on December 30, 2014 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was the second of three children. He graduated from Central High School in 1943. Three days before his 18th birthday, he joined the Marines and served for the next two and half years in the Pacific Theatre, hearing that World War II was won over loud speakers on Okinawa. He returned home and attended the University of Missouri, majoring in business. He met his future bride, Edna Irene (Mead) Middleton, on a blind date. They married on November 22, 1951, at Linwood Methodist Church, and settled in Kansas City, where he built their first home. Their first three children were born there. During this time, he helped establish and run a credit union for two different companies. He worked as an accountant for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline Company, and was transferred to Liberal, KS, in 1960, where his last two children were born. In 1966, he accepted a position as CFO for Great Yellowstone Corporation in Tulsa, later becoming a director. From 1974 to 1984, he was employed in the financial end of the oil business in Colorado, California, Texas and Oklahoma City. He gave that up to own his own business in OKC, Gourmet Popcorn and Nuts, which he then operated for the next 20 years. He and Edna were active members of St. Luke's United Methodist Church there. They took a tour of Israel with a church group, and his experiences in the Holy Land brought life to his faith. On that trip he was baptized in the Jordan River. In 2004, they retired and moved back to Tulsa to be closer to family and rejoined Asbury United Methodist Church, where they were part of the Mariners community. He is survived by: sons, John (and spouse, Teresa) and Michael; daughters, Michelle Naylor, Lisa Reynolds (and spouse, Bob), and Dana Castellaw (and spouse, Lyle); grandchildren, Erin Velez, Josh and Jared Naylor, Andrea Hoffman, John, Hannah and Mark Middleton, Siera Williams, Robbie, Samantha and Riley Reynolds, and Austin, Tyler, and Caleb Castellaw. He also has six great-grandchildren. His wife, his parents, his sisters Jackie Middleton and Marilyn Feldsher, and his grandson Kyle Castellaw, preceded him in death. A celebration of his life will be held in Mason Chapel at Asbury United Methodist Church on January 22nd at 1:00 PM. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233 share memories at
