Obituary

John A. Russell, 80, of Owasso, OK, died on Wednesday, October, 27, 2021, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Friday, August 1, 1941, in Wichita, KS, to John Herbert Russell and Mona Elizabeth (Endsley) Russell. John's father's job transferred the family to several different locations, and John graduated from Muskogee, High School. After high school, John joined the U.S. Air Force and was proud to have served as an Airman Second Class, Special Vehicle Repairman, until his Honorable Discharge. He was a hard worker and was a cable locator, for 29 years, for Public Service Company of Oklahoma. John met the love of his life, Sandra Vermeire, in 1983, at her Aunt's and Uncle's house in Tulsa, OK, and he eventually won her heart, and they were married on Friday, August 31, 1984, at First Baptist Church, Dewey, OK.
John and Sandy were members of First Baptist Church, Owasso, OK. He enjoyed being home, spending time with his family, and doing carpentry work around the house. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching Saturday College Football, Women's Softball, and the Little League World Series. John was also an excellent sportsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting.
John is survived by his beloved wife, of 36 years, Sandy; sisters, Mona Kerr and husband, Lewis of Tulsa, OK, and Margaret Boatman and husband, Brett Barton, of Monument, CO; sister-in-law, Linda F. Peske and husband, Herman, of Roseburg, OR; brother-in-law, Tom Vermeire and wife, Dana, of Dewey, OK, brother-in-law, Frank Vermeire of Dewey, OK, brother-in-law, Jack Vermeire, and brother-in-law Ed Camp, of Broken Arrow, OK; nieces and nephews; and a lifetime of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Linda Camp.
