John Daniel Short, 65, of Tulsa, passed away Thursday, June 15th, 2017, at St. John's Hospital due to complications that developed during the onset of a quick illness. He was born October 22nd, 1951 in Amarillo, TX to William Wilson and Frances Sue Short. He worked in the heating and cooling industry. John is survived by his significant other of 11 years, Pam McConnell of Tulsa, OK; Son, John Adam Short and his wife, Tammy, of Coweta, OK; Daughter, Cynthia Ann Berg and husband, Ronnie of Wagoner, OK; Daughter, Angel Marie Torres, and husband, Anthony, of Canyon, TX; he also helped raise 2 daughters, Deuna Rania Sandburg, of Oklahoma City, and Mindy McConnell, of Tulsa, OK, and 2 sons, Joshua Don Lee of Coweta, OK, and Michael Grant McConnell of Tulsa, OK; 2 sisters, Billie Sue Cumins of Amarillo, TX and, Aloha Jean Cook of Austin, TX; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild; as well as multiple nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Wilson and Frances Sue Short; and his 2 sisters, Peggy Short Holman and Bertha Short Haney. John graduated from Palo Dura High. At the age of 17, John, joined the marines, where he was trained in the special forces and rose to Lance Corporal. When John left the Military, he worked as a mechanic. He would always jokingly say he was a "Jack of all trades but a master of none". Later in his life he went to school and got his license in heating and air conditioning. John enjoyed cooking, fishing, camping, and was very much an animal lover. He loved watching old Westerns. Two of his favorite actors were John Wayne and loved watching Chuck Norris in "Walker, Texas Ranger". He also enjoyed watching old tearjerker chick-flicks. John was a truly wonderful man; he loved helping others as much as he could. He will truly be missed by many.
