Obituary

Johnie Lee Mitchell left to be with our Savior Jesus Christ on September 24, 2013. A strong Christian, she was born November 6, 1923 in Wayne, Oklahoma to her mother and father John Luther and Paralee Kitchens. After graduating from Purcell High School, she married Robert E (Bud) Brooks who was serving in World War II in Calcutta India. During his service to our country Johnie Lee lived with her sister, Bea, in Chickasha, Oklahoma. After the war, Johnie and ?Bud? settled in Tulsa where they lived their lives.



Johnie was preceded in death by her husband Robert E. Brooks, second husband Harold Manasco, and sister Bea Moring. She is survived by her husband Harold Mitchell, sister Sara Williams, daughter Patricia Jean and husband Dave Lipscomb of Dallas, and son Robert E. (Bob) and wife Marian Brooks of Broken Arrow. Johnie is also survived by 4 grandchildren Chris Myers and wife Kris of McKinney, TX, Amy and husband Michael Burkhart of Austin, TX, Michelle and husband Barry Vandevier of Brentwood, TN., and Nicole Brooks of Tulsa. Johnie was blessed with 9 great-grandchildren.



Johnie and family were Charter members of Eastwood Baptist Church, and a member of Children?s Medical Charities Association. Johnie inspired all who knew her with her strong faith, her love of family and passion for life. She traveled the world, always bringing along family and friends to share in the experience. She amazed all that witnessed her skills on the lake as a slalom water skier, finally hanging up her ski at 77 years young.



Memorial contributions may be made to the Children?s Medical Charities Association, 1125 S. Utica Ave. Tulsa, OK 74104. Viewing all day Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Moore?s Southlawn. Memorial service will be 4:00 P.M., Friday, September 27, 2013 at Christ United Methodist
