Taylor, Johnny Francis, 92, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015.
Johnny was born February 21, 1923, Tulsa, OK, to Johnny James
& Lillian (Roberts) Taylor. Like so many young men of his time
Johnny joined the Marine Corps right after high school. He was
seriously injured during boot camp. That ended his ambition to
become a Marine and serve his country. He went to school to study
as a journeyman electrician and was selected as journeyman apprentice of the year by the IBEW. He had a knack for teaching and
instructing others on how best to wire everything from a dam
(The Keystone Dam) to many of the iconic buildings in downtown
Tulsa. His handiwork also extended to many churches,
family and friends, never taking a dime for his hard work.
The Lord found him about the same time and he became a member of Temple Baptist Church. He had a gift for singing and the church needed a minister of music; it was a great match! He served as minister
of music for several different local churches over the years and was also
involved in several revivals around the country.
Preceded in death by his first wife and mother of his children, Mary A. Taylor in 1993. Johnny married Barbara (Russell) Goodman in 1996.
Johnny is survived by his wife, Barbara, his daughter, Mary Frances
Givens, her husband, Dan; son, John Michael "Toad" Taylor; children,
