John Wesley Kerr passed in peace on July 17, 2018. He was born to the late J.W. and Para Lee Kerr in Oklahoma City, OK on December 31, 1954. He graduated from Varnum High School in 1973 and received a bachelor's degree in American History from Northeastern State University in 2007.
John worked as an auctioneer and a truck driver for much of his life. He spent many years as an auctioneer at Tulsa, McAlester, Ada, Okmulgee, and Atoka stockyards. More recently, he found joy in his position at Sanders Nursery. He was forever grateful for the mentors, coworkers, customers, and friendships that he developed throughout his career. John volunteered countless hours to various 4-H and FFA programs throughout Oklahoma. He was a member of the Elks Lodge for over 26 years and participated in many activities to help support the community through this organization. He was a member at St. Clements Catholic Church and was grateful for support the parish had provided him.
John is survived by his two children Lindsey Kerr and Jack Kerr, as well as Jack's wife Laura Kerr. He is also survived by his granddaughter Carly, sisters Patricia Bond, Jacquelyn Martin, Marti Goodwin and husband Mack Goodwin. He is preceded in death by his parents J.W. and Para Lee Kerr and sister Lynda Morphis.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, July 19th. Friends and family are welcome to stop by Moore Funeral Home -- Southlawn Chapel any time, but family will be there from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Friday, July 20 at 10am at St. Clements of Rome Catholic Church in Bixby, OK. Burial will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday at the Dibble, OK cemetery.
