Jon Arthur Penquite, 75, of Broken Arrow, died at 330 am, Wednesday Dec. 7, 2016. He was born August 25, 1941 in Tulsa, OK to Ivan and Billie Penquite. Jon was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Bob Penquite and his daughter Jennifer Penquite. He leaves behind 3 children, some extended family and many close friends.

Jon grew up in Sapulpa, OK where he graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1959. He attended some classes at OSU and went on to join the Tulsa Fire Dept. on Sept 5, 1967. He worked many years fighting fires and was even held the high distinction of Fire Captain at one point in his career. He moved on to join the Fire Marshall's office where he worked in plan review. He retired Oct 31, 1994 at which time he moved to Grove OK to live on Grand lake and enjoy his retirement. Jon's retirement activities included sitting on his deck watching the golfers, boating and fishing. He attended First Christian Church in Grove where he was baptized.

Jon enjoyed marathon running when he was young. His true passion though was the outdoors, camping and traveling to the mountains of Colorado. He also loved fishing and going to the white river. Another aspect of Jon's life was his love for his dogs. He had many dogs over the years, his 1st being Allie the little black cocker spaniel mix. His other dogs included sara #1, peaches, sara #2 and sparky. In his later years Jon battled dementia and lived in long term care where he spent most of his time with his daughter Julie. Some of Jon and Julie's favorite things in most recent times were their trip to the zoo and the time they spent reading about animals in the big book of animals' encyclopedia.
