Joseph C. (Joe) Muzika passed away on May 25, 2017, in Tulsa, OK after losing a courageous battle with a serious illness. He was born November 21, 1925, in Bayonne, NJ to loving parents, Charles Muzika and Mary (Hudak) Muzika.
Growing up, Joe was surrounded by families Muzika, Kanko, Kasnow and others, with some family members working at "B. MUZIKA & SONS" at 89-91 E. 25th Street, Bayonne, NJ. Joe joined the Navy in September 1942 and earned the American, Victory, Asiatic-Pacific, and Philippine Liberation medals. He ended his service honorably as an ARM2c in 1946.
After the war, Joe attended Oklahoma A&M (OSU) where he met and married Sue Palmer from Tulsa. Joe graduated with a BS in Physical Science and moved his family to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia where he worked for ARAMCO as an engineer and later as an instructor. The adventurous experience in Saudi Arabia was deep and everlasting for Joe and his family. They returned to the States and made a home in northeastern Ohio where Joe continued his skills as an instructor. In the 1980s, Joe traveled and worked in Saudi Arabia two more times until finally returning to Tulsa to settle and retire from teaching.
Joe should be remembered for his love and devotion to his family, deep connection with the Middle East, love of travel and culture, and skills as a teacher. He will be greatly missed. Joe was preceded in death by his mother, Mary; father, Charles; and, brother, Rudolph. He leaves behind his and Sue's three children: daughter Vicki and her family--David, Margaret, Gitanah, Scott, Asher, Keegan and Margie; son Russell and his family--Carrie, Sarah, Brennah, and Deirdra; son Joe Jr. and his family--Rosy, Joseph, and Jon Paul.
There will be a graveside service at 10 AM, Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Memorial Park
Cemetery in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
