Joseph Knapp Peery was born August 22, 1939, in McAllen, TX, to Charles Harold Peery and Josephine Marsletta Knapp Peery of Donna and Weslaco, TX. He died on October 17, 2025, at his home at Montereau in Tulsa, OK. He is survived by his wife, Carrol Ann Garb Peery; daughters, Amy Pruitt and husband Dr. Bryan Pruitt, Melanie Scroggins and husband Danny Scroggins, step-son, Thomas Mitchell LeGros, Jr., grandchildren, Austin Pruitt and wife, Mary Alice Pruitt, Taylor Pruitt: Chandler Pruitt McKinley and husband, Jayson McKinley, Stanton Pruitt: Sterling Pruitt: Mary Catherine Scroggins Dunbar and husband, Robert Dunbar, Jr.: Hannah Scroggins: Joe Scroggins; great grandson, Whitson McKinley and brother, Dr. William Harold Peery

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Harold Peery and Josephine Marsletta Knopp, his wife: Amy Carolyn Thompson, and his brother, Stephen Charles Peery

Joseph attended elementary and high schools in Donna, TX, and Weslaca, TX and graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 1962. Upon graduation he entered the U. S. Army and served until 1964. As a 1st Lieutenant, he also served 8 years in the U. S. Army Reserves. After completing his Army commitment, Joe worked for a brief time at Knapp Chevrolet in Houston, TX, before joining Weingarten Supermarkets in the corporate office where he worked for 21 years in Human Resources and Labor Relations. In 1983, Joe was appointed Vice President of Quanex Corporation in Houston, TX, and retired in May, 1998. In retirement, Joe and Carrol moved to Fair Oaks Ranch, TX, and in 2006 moved to Tulsa, OK.

Joe was a member of The Park Church of Christ in Tulsa and served in a leadership role in the Young at Heart Class. He loved his family, building and flying model airplanes, hunting, fishing, singing, traveling and playing sports. He was a naturally gifted athlete and especially loved golf. Joe was known for his quick wit and his lovely baritone voice. He had a twinkle in his eye and had a gift for making everyone feel special.

The Celebration of Life will be held at The Park Church, Tulsa, OK, on November 22, 2025, at 10:30am under the direction of Moore's Southlawn. In lieu of flowers, donations will be welcomed to the Senior Adult Ministry (SAM) at The Park Church.
