With heavy hearts and profound faith, we announce the passing of Joseph (Tiny) Alton Ward, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and devoted servant of the Lord. Joe went to be with his Heavenly Father on June 18, 2024, at the age of 86, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on March 26, 1938 in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma , Joe was the youngest son of Joseph Reuben Ward and Martha Alta (Chapman) Ward. Tragically, his biological mother, Alta, passed away during childbirth. He was lovingly raised by Roy and Nancy Hamilton. Joe was raised in a Christian home, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age during Bible school. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, guiding his actions and decisions through all seasons.
Joe met and married , Lucy Faye Richardson on May 15,1959. Their union, grounded in love and mutual respect, was a testament to the sanctity of marriage, lasting 65 years. Together, they were blessed with two children: Debbie and Diana. Joe's role as a father and grandfather was central to his life, and he instilled in his family a deep faith and strong moral values.
Joe, a dedicated and skilled machinist, whose expertise and passion for his craft were matched only by his love for his family and friends. Joe will be remembered for his unwavering work ethic, attention to detail, and the countless contributions he made to his field. His legacy will live on in the precision and craftsmanship he brought to every project.
Joe was an active member of Friendship Baptist Church. He was passionate about sharing the Gospel and his life was a living testimony to his faith, characterized by kindness, generosity, and a servant's heart.
In addition to his church involvement, Joe was a skilled craftsman, enjoyed tinkering on cars, woodworking, flea marketing and family vacations. Joe and Lucy loved taking RV trips with his brother Eddie and wife Lou Ann. He found immense joy in spending time with his beloved grandchildren, Ava, Luci and Lily. He also had a deep love for the majestic Colorado mountains, which brought him great peace and happiness. His home was a place of hospitality, where everyone felt welcomed and loved. His wisdom, gentle spirit, and sense of humor will be greatly missed.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife Lucy of the home, his children Debbie McIntosh (and spouse Roley) of Eufaula, Oklahoma, and step-grandchildren Spencer, Tyler, Elijah, Samantha and 10 step great grandchildren, Diana Lange (and spouse Bob) of Greenwood Village, Colorado and his grandchildren Ava, Luci and Lily. He is also survived by his brother, Wayne Ward, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Ward/Hamilton parents and 12 siblings and 1 great step-grandson.
A celebration of Joe's life and faith will be held on June 22, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Friendship Baptist Church 14100 East 86th Street North, Owasso, Oklahoma. Following the service, interment will be at 2:30 at the Warner Memorial Cemetery, Warner, Oklahoma.
Joe's earthly presence will be dearly missed, but we find comfort in knowing that he is now in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. "Well done, good and faithful servant!" (Matthew 25:23). His legacy of faith and love will continue to inspire those who had the blessing of knowing him.
Viewing will be Friday, June 21, 2024, 1:00pm to 8:00pm. Family will receive friends from 6:00pm-8:00pm at the Moore Funeral Home, Southlawn Chapel. Funeral Services will be 11:00am Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Friendship Baptist Church, 14100 East 86th St. North, Owasso, Oklahoma. Burial will be at Warner Cemetery in Warner, Oklahoma.
