Joshua Todd Gentry, 40, died in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 19, 2020, He was the beloved husband of the late Kristal Gentry and the cherished son of Jim and Juli Gentry. Josh was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on October 13, 1979 to Jan Podpechan Grisham. Josh was adopted as an infant and was raised by his loving parents, Jim and Juli, along with his adopted brother, Jeff. As Josh liked to tell, he was "delivered like a pizza" to Jim and Juli when he was three days old. He was reunited with his biological mother in April of 2016 and the two developed a close bond. God blessed Josh with two moms and a loving, extended and blended family.
Josh met Kristal Renee Masters in Stillwater, Oklahoma in 2007. A strong friendship started, and then a deep love unfolded and they were inseparable from that time. They were united in marriage on November 24, 2018. Their union was sadly cut short with Kristal's death on May 30, 2019, a sorrow that Josh was unable to overcome.
Josh graduated from Union High School in 1998 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in English Literature from Oklahoma State University in 2007.
Joshua had a great love of the written word, especially the works of F. Scott Fitzgerald. He also had a passion for the music of Buddy Holly, so much so that he named his cat after him. Like his biological mother, Joshua had an affinity for cats, but he and wife Kristal, also shared a love for their dogs, Sly and Marla Singer.
Joshua was preceded in death by his wife, Kristal Renee Gentry, and his grandparents Jim and Juanita Gentry and Preston and Dana Davis. He is survived by his parents, Jim and Juli Gentry, brother, Jeff Gentry and wife, Kelly; and their children, his nephew Preston Gentry and niece Lydian Gentry; Kristal's sons Ian Spain and Landon Cole Rogers; his biological mother Jan Grisham and her husband Mike; Aunts and Uncles Beth and Ron Holland; Jeanne and Phil Gentry, Karen and Rob Gentry; Loving cousins, Amy Cooper (Raymond), Chris Holland (Denise), Lindsay Daugherty (John), April Gentry (Adam), Berri Duran (Trent), Cassie Rankin (Daniel), John Gentry (Meagan) and Col. Jeremiah Gentry (Stacey); several great nieces and nephews and countless friends.
