Joyce Ann Johnson (a/k/a "Granny Goose" or "Goose Goose") died July16, 2018 in Hillcrest Hospital, Tulsa, Oklahoma, following a brief illness. She was 89.
Joyce was born November 19, 1928, in Forth Worth, Texas to Walter Reece and Lola Belle (Clark) Hewell. She attended the University of Tulsa where she studied Business Administration. She met Paul Frederick Johnson (her husband of 50 years) at T. U. and they married May 28, 1949.
Joyce dedicated her life to raising her family and following her husband as he was transferred to various locations with Marathon Oil: Lovell, Lance Creek, Grass Creek, and Casper, Wyoming; Sidney, Nebraska; Calgary, Alberta and Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. She moved to Ponca City in 1997. Joyce was known for her incredible sense of humor and her love of jokes. She was a talented artist and an avid collector of antiques. Joyce was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and an accomplished genealogist. She made friends easily and will be missed by all.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband (Paul Johnson), her mother (Lola Pryor), her father (Walter Hewell), and her beloved step-father (John Raymond Pryor). She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Len Roy; her daughter, Pamela Johnson; her daughter, Gail Hartl; her granddaughter, Heather Roy Perkins; her grandson and his wife, Devon and Tara Roy; her grandson, Kody Hartl; her grandson Kelly Hartl; and her granddaughter and her husband, Lauren and Erik Gil; as well as close family friend, Jay Johns. She is also survived by 6 great-grandchildren: Alex, Emma, and Corbin Perkins, Gabriel Roy, Kaidence Hartl, and Dawsyn Gil.
Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery following a short service at the Memorial Park Chapel on Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m.
