Joyce Conner Minchew passed away Friday, March 31, 2017 in Tulsa, OK. Joyce was born March 21, 1932 to L. N. and Nola Conner in Everett, Washington. She grew up in Clinton, Arkansas. She attended the University of Arkansas school of medicine in Little Rock and became an x-ray technician.
The emergency room is where she met her soon to be husband, Milton Minchew. His cousin had shot himself in the foot and they came in for treatment. Milton then went to her church and the romance started from there. After marriage, they moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas.
They had two children and she became active in their school as PTA president. As time went on, their son had an appointment at Holt Crock Clinic. While there the doctors asked her to come back as a part time x-ray tech. That was where she retired from work and made many long-time friends.
Many years before, her brother and sister-in-law moved to Fort Smith. They decided that they shouldn't move too far away from each other, so her brother bought the home across the street. What a wonderful time they had together attending church and raising children. In Joyce's last years she attended Northside Church of Christ in Greenwood, Arkansas.
Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, Milton Minchew, brother Stonewall Jackson Conner and sister Alice Ann Buckman and Alice Ann's son Jeff Buckman. Joyce is survived by her daughter Sarah Minchew Taylor and son-in-law Jerry Taylor of Tulsa, Oklahoma and son David Minchew and daughter-in-law Jan McNeal Minchew of Frisco, Texas. Her precious grandchildren include: Jordan Taylor and Hannah Taylor Craver of Tulsa. Katie Minchew Laverde and Michael Minchew of Dallas, Texas, Tyler Minchew of San Jose, California.
