Judy Stringer went to be with her Lord Thursday morning, January 28, 2016. She was the daughter of P.M. and Ruby Stringer. She was born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi on September 6, 1946. She was 69 years old. Judy moved to Tulsa in 1957 with her parents. She was a member of First Baptist--Tulsa. She made a profession of faith in her teen years at Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis, TN and Dr. R.G. Lee baptized her. She graduated from Edison High School in Tulsa. Judy is survived by her brother Pel Stringer, sister in law Linda and niece Robin Drake and children of Austin, TX.
As brother and sister who were 9 years apart, we were not childhood playmates. Judy's hobby was crocheting with her mother. She made some beautiful afghans.
As my wife and I were moving and storing things from her assisted living apartment we found videos that she had copied. They were all family rated. There were no R rated or even similar movies to be found. She must have copied every movie that Shirley Temple ever made. All of the books and magazines I found were mostly of a religious nature. I even found an outdated book by the famous R.G. Lee. There were so many Bibles I lost count. I never heard my sister use one curse word.
She had an entertaining sense of humor. On a trip through Yellowstone with my wife, Judy, and parents, my father answered a statement in jest, and said, "I'm in touch with the magic." Judy replied, "Yes, but sometimes your magic is touched."
She lived in an assisted living facility for years. The final disease was cancer. I am thankful that she didn't suffer too long. She was never in a lot of pain due to the medication. To watch a beautiful young woman linger away into an unrecognizable condition is the most horrible sight these eyes have ever seen. Praise be unto God her misery has ended. Jesus Christ is the only hope for sin and death. We praise God for the future glory that is to come where there will be no more death.
The funeral service will he held a Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel at 51st and Memorial at 2 PM Monday, February 1, 2016. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233 share memories at
