Obituary

Julia B Lester entered into eternal rest on Dec 9th 2017 Julia was born March 24th 1918 in a log cabin in Shady Grove, a rural community of Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. Her Father was Henry Bergwine Bickle. Her Mother Otia Mae (Kennedy) Bickle. Her Sister's & Brothers called her "Snooks". She married her childhood sweet heart (Carl F. Lester Sr.) whom she met at a pie supper. Carl was the son of a local cattle rancher. He and Julia were married on October 19th 1935 in McAlester Oklahoma; and at the time it was said: "She got the catch of the county" . To this union were born three children; Francis Janette, Carl Francis Jr. and Wayne Lynford Lester.

Julia will be remembered for her Christianity, Faith, Humility and her many talents. She was a gifted pastry maker, Pie maker, and cook. She enjoyed teaching. She was an excellent seamstress, quilter, sketch artist, gardener, and flower arranger as well as a meticulous house keeper.

She will also be remembered for her sense of humor, pantomiming, family dedication, strength of character & discipline. She was simply known as "Nana" to her family and grandchildren. Julia for many years was the owner of Brookside beauty college and enjoyed her teaching career there as well as Enjoying her students and patrons until retirement.

She studied & researched the bible for the format and the true church of Christian times. She was baptized August 10th 1942 by brother Ramsey a preacher of the church of Christ at Stuart ok. She and her husband Carl were some of the early charter members who met at Eisenhower school early in the history of Park Plaza Church of Christ. Her membership remain there until now, she attended there for over 50 years.

Julia B Lester's survivors include her son Carl Francis Lester of Tulsa & daughter Frances Janette Burgess, also of Tulsa; As well as her daughter in law, Charlotte J. Lester of Nixa Missouri. Other survivors include 5 grandchildren, Sherri Arend & her husband Robert Arend of Overland Park, Kansas, Debbie Baldwin and her husband Tom Baldwin of Clever Missouri, Karla Rose and her husband Bill Rose of Henryetta Oklahoma, Julie Ann Lester of Nixa Missouri, and Amber Reeser and her husband Steve Reeser of Edmond Oklahoma; 13 Great Grand children: Alexandra, Michael & Nicholas Arend. Lucas and his wife Jessica Wilson, Samantha & Jacob Duffy, Charlotte-Ann & Mikey Saunders, Tony Rose and his wife Amber. Curt Rose, Natalie Rose, Kelsey Black, Riley Frost, and Audrey Frost; 13 Great-Great-Grandchildren: Grace, Leila, Kael, Kerrigan, Halynn, Kira, Aiden, Oliver, Charley, Andy, Avery-June, Evyn and Parker.

Of her immediate family, one sister in law remains, Lucille Bickle of McAlester Oklahoma; along with many nieces and nephews. Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Henry B. and Otia Bickle, Her spouse Carl F. Lester Sr., her son Wayne L. Lester, her grand-daughter Amy Lester, her great-great grand-daughter Lylli Saunders. She was also preceded in death by her daughter-in-law Delores Lester, and son-in-law Kenneth Burgess, her sisters: Ella Bristow of Sawyer Oklahoma, Leona Burris of McAlester Oklahoma, Eltia Powell of Oklahoma City, Ruth Witt of Nicoma Park, Two brothers: Jack Nelson Bickle and H.B. Bickle both of McAlester Oklahoma. Nephews D.J. Bristow, Mark Bickle, Sonny Burris and neice Phyllis Ann Martin.

Viewing will be 10AM-8PM, Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
