Julia Adelaide (Moore) Morley passed away peacefully into the Lord's presence on Sunday, Oct. 9th, 2022 at the age of 92.
Julia lived a full life of great faith and deep love for family and friends. She lit up a room with her warmth and smile, making each person she met feel special.
Julia was born on Nov. 23, 1929 in Tulsa, OK to Sidney and Helen Moore. She graduated from Central High School and attended Smith College in Northampton, Mass., where she was a member of the equestrian team.
One evening the summer before her senior year of high school, Julia and a group of her girlfriends attended a movie in downtown Tulsa. Also at the theater that evening was a group of Central High boys who had previously graduated. Julia was particularly impressed by a certain young man in the group, John Morley, who was home on summer break from college. The two were smitten and the rest is history!
They married 3 years later on Dec. 26, 1949, and in the following years they were blessed with four children. John & Julia shared a beautiful marriage for 70 years, they were the true loves of each other's lives.
Julia's love of cooking, sewing, gardening and singing made her home a joy-filled haven. John and Julia loved entertaining. Whether hosting a large gathering of relatives at the holidays or fun dinners with friends, these evenings often included singing around the piano and dancing.
Each summer John and Julia would squeeze their four children and sometimes a family dog, into their station wagon for a vacation. A favorite memory from these excursions that still brings smiles to her children, was their mother's ability to add a huge Coleman ice chest into the already cramped car and turn it into a small gourmet deli!
Julia contributed to the Tulsa community her entire life. Whether volunteering at church, her children's schools, or Jr. League projects, her contributions made a difference to many.
In the late 1970's, Julia embarked on a 30 year career in residential real estate and became a trusted & respected agent in the Tulsa community. During that time she made many new friendships while working with her clients.
But it was the simple things of life that brought her the most contentment. Sitting with John and their Labrador retrievers on their screened porch and watching a beautiful sunset was a particular pleasure.
Last but not least, Julia cherished her 8 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren! Lovingly referred to as "Mamaw", she left them with a legacy of joy and endless memories.
Julia is predeceased by her parents Sidney and Helen Moore, her brother Tom Moore(Charlotte), her sister Jessie Baker, her son Peter H. Morley, her son-in-law Clark Millspaugh and her husband John Morley.
She is survived by her children, Blake Morley(Laurie), Anne Millspaugh, and Sarah McKoy(Kelly). And also her grandchildren Mary Leake, Katie Hutto, Meg Grewal, Libby Morley, Joe Millspaugh, Julie Beard, Margo McKoy, John McKoy and their spouses.
