June Riggs Cleverdon, age 97, passed away peacefully in Tulsa on November 22, 2023.

During the course of her long and vibrant life that spanned the Great Depression, World War II, and the exploration of space, she witnessed growth and development of Oklahoma, the country and the world. She was born in Inola, OK on June 10, 1926, and moved to Coweta at an early age. As the child of teachers, she learned the value of education and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree from the University of Oklahoma and attended graduate school at OU. During WWII she worked in Tulsa for Douglas Aircraft building and retrofitting aircraft to support the country's war effort. She also worked for the YWCA and Oklahoma Steel during her career.
In 1956, she married Richard Cleverdon and the two were together until his death in 2001. After the birth of their son Paul, she devoted her time, love, and energy to his upbringing. She took on many roles, volunteering for church organizations, PTA, Rotary Anns, as well as local and national philanthropies. Her life touched many people in the community, and she will be remembered for her compassion and dedication to the service of others.

June was preceded in death by her husband Richard Cleverdon and her parents F.M. and Georgia Riggs. She is survived by her son Paul and his wife Jill Cleverdon of Highlands Ranch CO, their children Peter Cleverdon and Stephanie Cleverdon, her sister and brother-in-law Ann and Don Bates of Bartlesville, OK as well as numerous nieces and nephews around the country. She was a blessing to us all and will be greatly missed.

A Memorial service will be held in early 2024 at Trinity Woods in Tulsa.
