Obituary

June Elizabeth (Goins) Safreed, 92, born June 20, 1927 in Nuyaka, Oklahoma, passed January 7, 2020 in Bixby, Oklahoma.

June graduated from Okmulgee High School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma and upon graduation worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone as a switchboard operator until marrying Thomas Safreed in 1948. Upon their marriage June became a homemaker focusing on her husband and children. As the children grew older she ventured back into the workforce, initially taking a job in the East Central High School (Tulsa) cafeteria, because the work schedule matched her children's school schedule. Eventually she found her way into retail initially working for Hancock Fabric and finding her way to Sears. Along the way she made numerous friendships that lasted a lifetime.

At the center of her full life were faith, family, and friends. Her faith provided the foundation of her life. Through family and friends she found life's enjoyment. She lived for family gatherings surrounded by children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; the reunion luncheons with her Sears family, and involvement with her Sunday school class.

The last years of her life were particularly difficult with the loss of her daughter Annie and numerous health issues that precipitated an end to independent living. A special thanks goes to Sand Plum Assisted Living and Seasons Hospice who made the last years of her life as comfortable as possible. Especially to grandson Joey and his wife Lindsey who made countless sacrifices providing care.

Preceded in death by her parents Austin and Minnie Goins, brothers Herb and Bill, sisters Mary and Gladys, husband Thomas and daughter Annie.

She is survived by son Bruce Safreed and daughter-in-law Kathy of Bella Vista, Arkansas; grandchildren Joey Marshall and wife Lindsey of Tulsa; Kristen Collis and husband Jasen of Vista, California; Kelly Safreed of Bella Vista, Arkansas; Daniel Marshall and wife June of Conroe, Texas; Sean Safreed and wife Marlee of Rogers, Arkansas; and Trinity Brown and husband Thomas of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchildren Keegan and Kinley Marshall of Tulsa; Ally, Christian, and Annie Collis of Vista, California; and Jeffrey, Thomas, and William Marshall of Conroe, Texas. Many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials may be made to Seasons Hospice, 6532 E. 71st Street, Tulsa, OK 74133.

A Memorial Service will be held at Moore's Funeral Home Rosewood Chapel, 2570 S. Harvard in Tulsa at 2:00 Friday, January 17, 2020. A private burial, for the family, will be held prior to the Memorial Service.
