Karen Sue (Anthony) Miles was born in Flower Hospital, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on August 19, 1934, to Lester Frank Anthony and Florence Mildred (Gilmour) Anthony. She passed away the morning of Sunday, July 3rd, 2016.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Robert L. Miles of Tulsa, and her youngest son, Gregory Lee Medlock, also of Tulsa. She is survived by two other sons, Dr. Jeffery Miles (Tulsa) and Chris Medlock (Tulsa), two daughters-in-law, CeCe Miles and Cheryl Medlock, and three grandchildren Ian Miles (Dallas), Brittany Medlock (Norfolk, VA), and Jordan Medlock (Owasso). She also leaves two great-grandchildren, Meredith Hamilton and Shelton Weikel.
Karen graduated from Tulsa Central High School and was a member of the Class of 1952. She attended then Oklahoma A&M College for two years, where she was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, and participated in the Choral Club.
Other than Tulsa, Karen also resided during her lifetime in Stillwater (OK), West Lafayette (IN), Southern California, Glenview (IL) and Poughkeepsie (NY).
Karen spent most of her working career as a corporate secretary, who worked primarily in the petroleum and pipeline industries. She spent many years working for Sunray DX, Sunoco and MAPCO, all in Tulsa. Her favorite position, was working in MAPCO's legal department, as she always had an intellectual love for the law. She retired from MAPCO in 1999 when she turned 65
Karen spent much of her retirement tending for her home and her pets. She loved West Highland Terriers and leaves behind her beloved Westie, Bonnie. She also loved cats. Karen volunteered a great deal of her time planning and organizing class reunions with many of her friends and classmates.
During her lifetime, Karen got to travel to many destinations. Some of her favorites included Helsinki, Moscow, China, Denmark, France and Switzerland. She always longed to take a trip to her ancestral home of Scotland, but never made the trip.
