Obituary

Retired teacher, Karla Beth Hubbard, passed away on Jan. 4th, 2021 from
complications due to COVID 19. Even though this horrible virus took the life of such a
wonderful person, her spirit and loving nature left a beacon of light for her family and
friends.

Karla was born on Dec. 9, 1952 in Kansas City, KS. After high school, Karla attended
her much beloved Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS, graduating with a degree in
elementary education. While attending Bethany, Karla met the love of her life, David
Hubbard, and was married to him for 38 years until his untimely death in 2011. Karla
taught K-8th grade for 40 years until she retired in 2013.

Karla was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church in Tulsa, OK, for many years.
When her health allowed, Karla enjoyed volunteering for Manna Meals, was a member
of the church choir and set a goal for herself to knit at least 100 scarf and hat sets each
year for the homeless.

Karla was preceded in death by her husband, David, parents Paul and Pauline
Burnham, sister Paula Simonich, and sister-in-laws Jan Conner and Marlene Runnels.
Karla left behind a much beloved brother-in-law, Raymond Simonich. Karla did not
have any children, but enjoyed spoiling her niece, nephews and grand-niece and
nephews: Darren and Melissa Rethford, their children Jeff, Nicholas and Mandy; Eric
and Keri Simonich, their children Aiden, Garrett and Connor; Paul and Emily Simonich,
their children Clark and Addison; and Justin and Elizabeth Simonich and their son
Luke.

A private grave-side ceremony will be held on Thursday, Jan. 7th, 2021 at Pioneer
Memorial Cemetery in Wagoner, OK.
