Karla R. Palmer, 68, of Broken Arrow, passed away May 7th, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born in Monett, Missouri on August 10th, 1954 to Ray and Martha Craig.
A loving Christian wife and mother whose personality you couldn't help but love, Karla leaves behind her husband of 40 years Ken Palmer, and her daughters Cassie and Addie, and "grandbirds" Zoe, Riley, LuLu, and Kiwi. She was preceded in death by her father, Ray Craig, and her brother, Dennis Craig.
Growing up on a farm, she had some of the wildest stories she would share. From being chased by a snake, tales about her horse Buttons, or the time she had a pet raccoon, her stories were always fun to hear.
Quitting her job as a secretary to become a full-time mom, Karla was always active in school related functions. Whether it was volunteering with the PTA, baking treats for parties, or helping craft with girl scouts, she was happiest spending time with her daughters.
An amazing baker, Karla, was always warming others hearts with homemade goodies. Whether it was for church or school functions, people were always excited to see her coming with a dish.
An artsy soul, Karla was always working on a project. She loved to cross-stitch, embroider, quilt, knit and crochet. For many years she entered her creations in both the Tulsa State and County fairs, with many blue and sweepstakes ribbons to show for it. She loved making baby clothes, and blankets for people's new arrivals. Growing up her daughters got to bring their imaginations to life with her homemade costumes. They were never in need of pretty dresses for church or parties because she was always sewing new ones.
Even during her long battle with PAH, nurses and doctors were drawn to her shining personality, as she never met a stranger. Before she left the hospital, she had a constant stream of people coming to say goodbye. Even though her illness made it hard to function sometimes, she was never without a smile on her face.
Her passing leaves a profound hole in her family's hearts that will never be filled.
A viewing for family and friends will be held Tuesday, May 9th at Moore's Southlawn, 9350 East 51st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. It was Karla's wish to have a graveside service, which will be held on Wednesday, May 10th at 2:00 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 5111 South Memorial Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma
