Obituary

Kenneth Edward Brenkman, born on October 12, 1943, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and a longtime resident of Broken Arrow, passed away on Wednesday evening, October 7th, just five days before his 83rd birthday. He graduated from Will Rogers High School and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematical Engineering from the University of Tulsa. Ken spent most of his career as a Systems Engineer and served as the Data Center Manager for Occidental Petroleum, and later owned several Cartridge World franchises.

Ken took great pride in maintaining a meticulous yard and enjoyed working outdoors and tackling handiwork around the house. He also spent many years creating stained glass pieces, contracting with Tulsa Stained Glass customers; his work is likely still displayed in homes throughout the Tulsa area. For many years, he owned a cabin at Lake Eufaula, where he loved driving his boat, Papa's Pride, pulling his kids and grandkids around tubing and water skiing. He was also known by his family for grilling steaks on Sundays and occasionally making homemade Butterfinger ice cream, a treat everyone looked forward to.

Ken instilled a love of travel in his daughters, taking family vacations across various states, from the mountains to the beaches, as well as trips to Hawaii and Cancun. After his first wife, Nancy, passed in 2006, he took a solo six-week trip to New Zealand. He continued traveling after his daughters were grown, sharing many trips with his current wife, Jane, including travels to the Pacific Northwest, Norway, and Australia.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ruby Brenkman, and his first wife, Nancy (Noland) Brenkman, to whom he was married for 41 years. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Jane Brenkman of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter Laurie Brown and her husband, Scott Brown, and their children Austin and his wife Danielle, Kayla, and Joshua; daughter Christa Dixon and her husband, Godwin Dixon, and their children Sarah and her husband Jake, and Caleb and his wife Skylar. He is also survived by stepdaughter Tammy McKeever and her husband Chris, and their daughter Monique; and stepdaughter Karen Allison and her husband Mark, and their children Bethany, Heather, and Luke. He also leaves behind six great-grandchildren. He is survived as well by his sisters, Roxanna Chamberlin and Phyllis Sheffield.

A memorial service will be held on 10:00 AM Thursday, Oct. 15, 2026 at Life Church South Broken Arrow. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 PM on Wednesday at Moore Southlawn Chapel.
