KENNETH WILLIAM McCHAREN, retired Director of Instructional Media Services, Tulsa Public Schools, died Wednesday, February 15, 2017 in Tulsa, OK.
Survived by wife, Edna Jeanne Bailey McCharen; son, Richard K. McCharen and his wife Jane; granddaughter, Catherine Jane (Catie) McCharen.
Born July 28, 1928 in Toccopola, Mississippi to Buford E. and Lura E. McCharen (both deceased); brothers, Buford E. Jr. and Charles L McCharen (both deceased).
Long time members of First Christian Church of Tulsa and Double Ring Sunday school class. He served as a Deacon and Elder.
Employee of Tulsa Public Schools for 38 years. Taught Social Studies at Edison Middle and Senior High School. Assistant Principal at Monroe Middle School. Supervisor of Social Studies and Director of Instructional Media Services. Previously taught Social Studies in Cleveland, OK Public Schools.
Received Bachelors and Master's Degrees in Education from The University of Oklahoma and a professional Degree in Education Administration from University of Tulsa.
Active duty in U. S. Air Force with 138th Fighter Squadron, Oklahoma National Guard. Member of Tulsa City-County Library Commission and PAC Trust.
Funeral service will be 10:00 A.M., Friday, February 17, 2017 at Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233
