Kenneth Gaylen Secor, known to many simply as Ken, entered into eternal rest on May 5, 2025 in Catoosa, Oklahoma at the age of 77. Born in Fayetteville, Arkansas to James Kenneth and Virginia Mae (Rogers) Secor, Ken lived a life defined by service, craftsmanship, kindness, and unforgettable stories.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, James and Virginia, sister-in-law Renda Secor, father-in-law Otto Hull, mother-in-law Evonne (Sanders) Hull, and sister-in-law Kathy (Hull) Campbell. Ken is survived by his loving family including his wife of 51 years Carol (Hull) Secor of the home, brother Gerald Secor of Broken Arrow, four brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, ten nieces and nephews and their families, and numerous close friends whom he loved like family.
After graduating from Will Rogers High School, Ken attended Northeastern State University before enlisting in the United States Navy where he proudly served aboard the USS Independence and USS Oriskany aircraft carriers. Upon returning home, he worked alongside his father as a carpenter and later transitioned into contracting, eventually taking over the family business before his father retired in 1980. For more than 45 years, Ken did more than just contracting work-he built relationships, memories, and a reputation for integrity and hard work.
Outside of work, Ken found joy in the outdoors including gardening, fishing, and hunting. He especially enjoyed elk hunting and looked forward to his annual hunting trips. Ken was also a dedicated bowler, competing on two teams and regularly scoring in the 200s. Not even shoulder surgery could keep him from the lanes-Ken simply learned to bowl left-handed to continue doing what he loved.
Ken never met a stranger and delighted in spreading joy wherever he went. To hundreds of people, he was beloved for his famous peanut brittle, which became an annual holiday tradition. What began as a family gift in the 1970s soon became a cherished custom that touched countless lives. Each year Ken devoted his time, money, and effort to purchase supplies and cook, package, ship, and deliver his peanut brittle as a gift to family, friends, business contacts, and even people he never met. It was truly a labor of love.
We mourn his absence, but as someone once wrote, "We grieve for what we have lost but we have lost nothing if we have loved it." Ken loved deeply and was deeply loved in return.
