On Saturday, December 22, 2018, Kent Douglas Sheridan, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at the age of 87. Kent was born on December 17, 1931 in Tulsa, OK to Ben and Mary (Hurt) Sheridan. He received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Air Force after serving as a Staff Sargent in the Korean War. He then earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Tulsa. On May 25, 1957 he married Elizabeth (Betty) Mae Smith, also from Tulsa, with whom he brought up four children: Mary Ann, Kent Douglas Jr. (Doug), Philip and Laura. Kent retired after serving decades as Vice President and General Manager of Beene/Butler Paper Company.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Kathleen Scranton and Helen Inman, and grandson Parker Sheridan. He is survived by his wife Betty; his daughter Mary Ann and son-in-law Larry Donze, their children Anna, Claire, Samuel and Kent; his son Doug; his son Philip and daughter-in-law Kim and their sons Ben, Clayton and Gus; and his daughter Laura and son-in-law Daniel Crutcher and their sons Brandon and Jacob.
Kent liked playing and watching golf and was a member of Oaks Country Club with Betty for many years. He also enjoyed working puzzles and crosswords and raising dogs. His greatest joy, though, was the people in his life: his longtime bride, children, grandchildren and many friends. Incredibly generous and kind, Kent's wisdom, humor and positive attitude pulled people to him everywhere he went. He found something to love in every human being, and every human being loved him. He was adored by all and will be painfully missed.
