Kyra Gail Hamilton, 69, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, died in her home surrounded by family on December 4, 2024.
Kyra was born the first of 3 siblings in Topeka, Kansas, in 1955 to Robert and Helen Satzler. She participated in various forms of dance including tap, jazz, and ballet, and became a tap and jazz instructor while in high school.
Kyra accepted Jesus as her Savior and was baptized at First Baptist Church, Topeka, where she met her future husband, Wayne Hamilton. After graduating from Topeka West High School in 1973, Kyra attended Washburn University, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a BBA in Accounting. She was a member of NONOSO women's honor society and Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. Kyra graduated, passed the CPA exam, and got married in the spring of 1977. After graduating from Oklahoma State University with her Master of Accounting degree in 1978, she started her accounting career in Tulsa with Arthur Young CPA firm.
In the early 2000s, she was able to move her office home, which allowed her more time to travel to her kids' activities in high school and college. She attended many of her grandkids' sports and traveled for Wayne's triathlons. She enjoyed going on family vacations and chasing waterfalls with Shannon. The grandkids always loved their time doing puzzles, playing dominos, and baking cookies with their Meme.
Kyra was active in bell choirs at every church she attended. She began playing in high school at FBC Topeka when the church obtained a set of bells. She then played in bell choirs at First Methodist Church in Stillwater, Broadway Baptist in Sand Springs, and was a member of the bell choir at First Baptist Church Tulsa for the last 30 years, where she was able to establish friendships that have lasted decades.
After becoming an empty nester, she started playing tennis with a group of women several days a week and enjoyed the time with them and the friendships she made. She always looked forward to her trips with them every year to play tennis in La Jolla and several other locations.
Kyra is survived by her husband, Wayne Hamilton, of Sand Springs, son Ryan (Britt) Hamilton of Springfield, MO, son Trent Hamilton of Sand Springs, OK, daughter Shannon Hamilton of Sand Springs, OK, grandchildren, Garrett, Kaile, Blake, Peityn, Harper, and Max, sister Jill Silbiger of Atlanta, GA, and brother Tim (Nancy) Satzler of Oklahoma City.
