Cora Lagean Burk, née Cox passed away at the age of 85 on July 28, 2014 after a long illness. Lagean was born to Vernon and Cora Cox on March 26, 1929 in their modest home in Kingston, Oklahoma. She graduated from Tulsa Central High School in 1947. It was there she met the love of her life, Wayne Burk.
Wayne and Lagean were united in marriage on July 2, 1949. They spent their early years in Florida as Wayne served his country in the United States Air Force, but came home to Tulsa when his duty was complete to raise their family. Lagean had many fond memories of her time in Florida.
Not only was Lagean known for being an incredible wife to Wayne, but she was also a loving mother to her two sons, Dennis Wayne Burk and Scott Warren Burk. The family were faithful members of the East Central Church of Christ, the members of which were all considered friends and family.
Lagean is survived by her eldest son, Dennis Wayne Burk, his wife Susan Burk and their son Jeffery Wayne Burk of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her youngest son Dr. Scott Warren Burk, his wife Dr. Joy Christine Burk and their 3 daughters, Sarah Elizabeth Burk, Rachel Leigh Burk and Lauren Hale Burk of Ulm, Montana. She is also survived by 2 beloved nieces, Diana Brown and Pamela Ahlemeier of Glenpool, Oklahoma.
She is preceded in death by her husband Wayne Hale Burk on August 4, 2001, and her sister Aretha Jones.
Services will be held 11am Friday, August 1, 2014 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery where she will eternally rest next to her beloved husband and her parents.
