Lanoy "Pete" Ray Peters (76) passed away peacefully on August 8, 2024 at his home in Tulsa. A cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Pete was a distinguished Veteran and carpenter.
Born May 14, 1948, in Caroll, Iowa, Pete was the youngest of 2 children of Martin and Florence (Calhoun) Peters, Jr. His legacy lives on through his devoted wife of 54 years, Brenda Sue (Spencer) Peters, their daughter Sherry Lewis and their adopted son Donald Neely. He was preceded in death by their beloved son, Kevin Peters (widow Wendy Peters) and granddaughter Abigail Benke.
He is also survived by 9 grandchildren, as well as, 5 great-grandsons. Pete is further survived by several nieces and nephews who cherished their time together.
Pete's career spanned fifty years, beginning as a U.S. Army soldier for more than 29 years and continuing as a skilled civilian carpenter and construction manager after his military retirement. His career took him from a small town in Iowa, to traveling the world as a decorated veteran, and finally home as a devoted father to Sherry, Kevin, and Don.
Outside of the military and carpentry, Pete was passionate about computer activities. His zest for life and his ability to blend his military expertise with his personal interests made him a wealth of knowledge for his family and an asset as a friend. Pete's hard-knocks knowledge and dedication to his country will continue to inspire those that knew him for a long time to come.
