Obituary

Larry Wayne Jenkins passed from this life to eternal life on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 10:30 p.m. Gone too soon and too young, born April 16, 1956. Larry was the heartbeat of his family and businesses; the ever moving, ever working, ever teasing favorite of all. Larry was loved by all who knew him but none more than the love of his life, his wife, of almost 40 years, Debra Jean Eaton Jenkins, known as Debbie. Larry and Debbie were inseparable best friends and life partners in raising their three wonderful children and five adorable grandchildren.

Larry was the best Dad a kid could hope for always available for visits, guidance or advice. Larry loves his children unconditionally and was not too proud to pray with Debbie every morning for his children and prayed over his grandchildren with a quick simple prayer to a powerful God as they walked out the door.

Larry was also a great friend to all. Full of compassion and generosity he met the needs of many at all hours of the day or night. He was always ready to lend a helping hand, hospital visit, give a listening ear or wise advice. Going to Grand Lake was not only a pastime for Larry, but a necessity for his peace of mind. He loved to relax in his recliner and watch movies with Debbie, but they also used it to bless many friends and family members through the years. Larry was the perfect host and tour guide, giving rides around the lake, in his big, fast boat or dinner at the Yacht Club. One would think a man as busy as Larry would not have time to reach out to family and friends, but he did, daily, with phone calls and/or visits to catch up or just to tease, unmercifully, leaving them with their own "Larry story".

Larry conducted his business, the Jenkins Companies, in the same manner, making every contractor, vendor and employee his friend with the same care, help and availability. The brothers, Darrell, Wesley and Larry ran their business like a well-oiled machine; always working, always fair and always with a sense of humor. When Larry walked into a room, he would not be ignored. One might say that Larry was loud, and he was. In fact, one of his great-nieces when she was five nicknamed him "Uncle Loudmouth"; not disrespectfully but adoringly. Larry is missed by all, but we have the assurance that he is in a better place. His four year old granddaughter told her mom on Saturday morning, after his death that she dreamed her Papa took a fast plane ride, "it was real fast and went up". That's right, Ava, straight up to Heaven.

Larry is survived by his wife, Debbie; his son, Travis, and Nancy; his daughter, Erin, her children, Emery, Emerson and Ella; and his youngest son, Matthew, his wife, Heather, their children, Ava and Hudson; also by his brothers, Darrell, his wife, Pk, and son Allen; Wesley, his wife, Cindy, their children, Keri, Brent and Ashlee, her husband Jace and many great-nieces and nephews.

Larry was preceded in death by his mother, Wynona Faye Couch Jenkins, his father, Pressley Allen (P.A.) Jenkins Jr, and his grandparents, John O. Couch and his wife, Faye Lauree Kelly Couch, and Pressley Allen Jenkins Sr. and Fleeta Mae Odell Jenkins.

Larry was 32nd Degree Mason, Broken Arrow Lodge and a member of the Tulsa Scottish Rite. He was passionate about the Shriners Children's Hospital; therefore, in lieu of flowers we know he would appreciate donations to help the children.
