Larry Dean McCool, 68, a beloved husband, father, brother, enthusiastic fisherman, and architect went peacefully into the arms of the Lord on 6/20/2024.
Born November 11th, 1955, in Gravette, AR, Larry was the son of Roy James McCool and Joan Margaret McCool (Nims). From an early age, Larry displayed a keen intellect and attention to detail, allowing him to pursue a career in architecture after attending the University of Arkansas. Larry's architectural work was distinguished and reflected his deep understanding of design, functionality, and innovation. Larry founded his architectural firm, McCool and Associates, P.C., in April of 1994, where he spent a majority of his over 40-year career.
Beyond his professional achievements, Larry was a devoted family man. He married Joyce McCool (Rottier) on June 11th, 1983, and they shared 29 wonderful years together until Joyce lost her battle with cancer. Their marriage was a testament to love and commitment. Later Larry married Lisa Parkey on May 23rd, 2015, and they spent 9 wonderful years together camping, traveling, and managing their rental properties in retirement.
Larry was a dedicated father to Grant and Bradley, instilling in them his values of hard work, integrity, and kindness. He found immense joy in witnessing their successes and supporting them through life's challenges.
In addition to his roles as an architect and a family man, Larry was an avid fisherman. He cherished moments spent on the water, whether casting a line with family and friends or teaching his children the art of angling. His enthusiasm for fishing was infectious, and he loved days on the lake.
His legacy lives on through his family, friends, colleagues, and the architectural designs he brought to life.
Larry is preceded in death by Joyce McCool, his parents Roy James McCool and Joan Margaret McCool, and stepdaughter Catherine Burdette.
Larry is survived by his devoted wife, Lisa (Parkey) McCool; loving children, Grant (Danielle) McCool, Bradley (Emily) McCool, stepchildren, Isaac Hamil, and Avy (Juan Diego) Rodriguez; grandchildren, Parker and Ben McCool, Jasper, Nina, and Felix Burdette; cherished siblings, Benjamin (Marsha) McCool, Shelley (Jody) Gilgen, Pamela (David) McCool-Ramsey; and a wide circle of family, friends and colleagues who will miss him dearly.
Viewing will be 2-7pm, Friday, June 28, 2024 with family greeting friends from 5-7pm, both at Moore Southlawn. A memorial service to celebrate Larry's life will be held at Asbury Church in the Mason Chapel, where he attended for 40+ years, on June 29th, 2024, at 11a.m.
Larry, your legacy of love, creativity, and joy will forever inspire us. May you rest in peace, knowing you are deeply loved and eternally remembered.
