Larry Gene Schlotfelt was born January 4, 1940 in Cherryville, Kansas and passed from this life Saturday, April 16, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was 76.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Ray �Bud� Schlotfelt, his mother, Evelyn �Darlene� Schlotfelt, his sister, Barbara Ann Lowenstein, and the love of his life, his wife, Carol Jensen Schlotfelt. He is survived by his loving and devoted children Susan Coager (Chris) and Scott Schlotfelt (Shelly) both of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren Kaitlin Hiddle, Jennie Broadhurst, Riley and Carson Schlotfelt; and one great grandchild, Kamdyn Hiddle.
Larry grew up in Augusta, Kansas. He graduated from Kansas State University and remained a lifelong fan of the Wildcats. In September 1961, Carol and Larry were married. In March 1963, Larry entered the Army where he became a First Lieutenant as a fixed wing aviator and flight instructor stationed in Fort Rucker, Alabama. Following his time in the army, Larry began work at Tulsair Beechcraft where he worked for his entire career eventually becoming Vice President of Sales.
He was a faithful Christian who devoted most of his life to teaching adult Sunday School and bible memory classes at Will Rogers United Methodist Church and Christview Christian Church. He enjoyed reading, following his favorite sports teams, and probably most of all, traveling around the world with his loving wife Carol and his children. Larry was a man of utmost integrity, wisdom and kindness. His faith and his family meant the world to him. He will be sorely and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Service will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Moore's Southlawn Chapel, 9350 E. 51st, Tulsa, OK. Moore's Southlawn 918-663-2233.
