LaRue became a Christian in her youth. She personally knew the great love of God and believed Christ died for her sins to receive forgiveness and salvation of her life for eternity. She lived with perseverance and hope and chose restoration and reconciliation. She loved unconditionally. Her life was a beautiful testament.

While following Jim on his career moves, she was a member of five different United Methodist Churches and was regularly active in all of them. She was an active member of United Methodist Women and a Sunday School Teacher at all of them. She was a member of Asbury Church in Tulsa for the past 55 years.
Throughout LaRue's years in Tulsa she enjoyed volunteering at St. Francis Hospital Auxiliary and the Red Cross, giving time and service from the goodness of her heart to the community. LaRue enjoyed participating in the Garden Club at Tulsa Rose Garden and playing in bridge clubs with her friends. LaRue gave time to her daughter's activities as a girl scout leader in their young years, a cheer sponsor at Byrd Junior High and a parent volunteer at church youth group.
LaRue was an active participant in the lives of all her grandchildren and broke many pairs of glasses while playing basketball, soccer, football and baseball with them. She also played all the board games and card games.
