Lauren Lee "Larry" York, 95, of Tulsa died April 23, 2015. Born to Everett and Leila York in Lisbon, Iowa on February 5, 1920, Larry is survived by his children David and wife, Becky, York of Tulsa; daughter Katie and her husband, Michael May, of Tulsa; and daughter Betsy and her husband, Geoff Post, of Denver, and grandchildren Lindsay Barrett, Jenny York, Bryan York, Katie Post, Nathan Post, and Andy Post. Larry was predeceased by his wife of 70 years, Aggie, whom he met when they were both underclassmen at Grinnell College in 1937. After graduating from the University of Iowa, he served in WWII as a Navy Lieutenant and along with his crew was commended for service rescuing downed Navy fliers off Alaska's Aleutian Islands. In 1947, the young couple moved to Tulsa where Larry launched his 58 year career as a CPA which concluded as a partner of the firm Ostrander Sugg & York. Larry lent his accounting expertise to the boards of directors of Holland Hall School, St John's Episcopal Church and St Simeon's. Larry enjoyed traveling with Aggie and many close friends. He was very fond of golf and played until he was well into his 80s. Larry also enjoyed singing in the church choir and a caroling group. The family extends their sincere appreciation to St Francis Hospice and to each of his wonderful home caregivers. The Memorial service will be at 2:00pm Saturday, May 2, 2015 at Trinity Episcopal Church. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorials be made to Trinity Episcopal Church, Iron Gate, St Francis Hospice, or to the charity of choice.
